GIFT IDEAS HE ACTUALLY WANTS!

 My oldest son is bound and determined to become an engineer. He is analytical, thorough, detailed oriented and observant….Okay, your right he is a kid,  it’s really only with the stuff he cares about! Right now he pretty much only cares about video games and TOYS! Which is why He is determined to get his brother a wish list full of Gift Ideas He Actually Wants! The school bus is their brain storming zone, talking and asking every kid about what he has, wants, and what is the hottest, coolest item out there…..If this list isn’t just perfect for your 6-8 year old I don’t know how to find out what is!!! Let’s dive right in! Everything on this list is something we own and love and has been tested by 3 crazy boys!

 Pretend Play!

 Pretend play is a huge part of playtime! Lightsabers, swords, masks, nerf guns……these boys are at war all the time! Which is why the latest Avengers shows are at the top of their wants. I actually plan on purchasing the Infinity War Gauntlet tonight for my sons birthday! It’s the top of his list! *UPDATE- This Gauntlet is AWESOME! All my boys LOVE it! The infinity stones come off AND light up. They turn them on in the dark basement and hide them and compete in finding them first and getting them into the glove! Super fun and super nice quality!

My boys love this tactical vest, it’s an inexpensive add on and believe me it gets used EVERY.DAY, and that little mask in the pic literally is on my son constantly, he’d sleep with it if I’d let him (he has tried multiple times!) My boys also LOVE these goggles.  I found them sitting on the basement counter like this the other day! I guess when your running around in a nerf gun war all the time, you need good gear!

This Nerf Flipshot is a super fun gun. We actually have the Flip-8 and Flip-16. Why? I don’t know, boys always want more nerf guns no matter how many they have! I personally prefer the 8…just lighter and easier to use. 

Outdoor Play!

 I LOVE outdoor play! Boys need time running around outside! Moms need that too! So Outdoor toys are presents for both moms and sons! You can’t go wrong with bikes, sleds, and scooters!

We bought this Childrens Ghillie Suit for  my son for his birthday and it is so fun! He can scrunch down in my flower bed and you can’t even see him. He looks just like a bush. It’s crazy! Even when he lays in the grass he looks like someone dumper the bag of lawn mower grass there. I had a hard time finding child sizes for a decent price, but i’m very happy with the quality of this one. It comes with all the fun pieces and a carry bag. It’s light weight so it’s not too hot in the summer but they can always wear warm underneath. 

We have this Razor A Kick Scooter and I will tell you, it is the OLDEST and BEST scooter we own. We actually bought a pink one for my oldest daughter almost 10 years ago, this fall I realized my boys were fighting over the PINK SCOOTER!!! I think we have 4 NEWER boy scooters…..but none are “Razors” and the Razor is clearly the best. I threw all the “non-Razors” away and bought each of my boys this scooter for Christmas! Now they all have a nice smooth ride without bolts falling out!

Bikes are also a must have for active boys! We recently (2022) bought my 7 year old this bike from Amazon. I have to say, it is great quality and a great price. We have not been disappointed, and I love the removable training wheels AND the hand brakes! It was hard to find a bike with both! It’s the perfect size and great for helping him feel more comfortable riding a bigger bike!

Some other outdoor ideas are binoculars and a Hydration Pak. My boys love running around with theirs! Throw in a good flashlight and you’ll make their day!

Toys!

 My boys don’t play a ton with “toys” but these three toys are ones that actually get used! Beyblades are a fun toy with friends. Their friends bring over their Beyblades and compete in this stadium! They remind me of playing with pogs as a child!

Transformers keep the boys entertained switching from vehicle to guy and back again. We have a box full of them, they range in sizes and prices. In our experience, the expensive ones aren’t always best. My boys play with the $20-$30 ones the most.

Lastly is this Brain Flakes Gear Set. My sister bought this for my son a few christmases ago and it really surprised me how much all the kids love it. They use it for all sorts of things, they build animals, guns, flowers, robots, and also use it as play money, and throwing stars! This set is out more than it’s put away! UPDATE: It’s been 3 years since my sister gave us this and still today, this gear set is out…my kids all really love playing with it! Seems no matter who comes over this gear set gets played with!

 Legos, Legos and more Legos!

 What boy doesn’t love Legos!? They definitely occupy kids this age for HOURS! Messy? Yes! Worth it? Yes! We have every single set listed below. These are the sets picked out by the boys, surfing amazon and browsing store isles. They should give you a good idea of the sets the boys are into right now. Our most recent set is the Boba Fett helmet and Star Wars Lego Advent Calendar. My boys loved loved loved this Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar! They stuck to it and only opened one a day! It made Christmas so exciting and Baby Yoda was so cute!! Here are a few more sets we own and recommend…

Video Games!

Let’s face it, boys LOOOVE their video games! Although I try and limit them on sitting in front of a screen, I know it’s their very very very favorite thing to do.  We bought a Nintendo Switch a few years back and LOVE IT! I love how easily it can switch between a handheld device for trips and a tv device for groups. Mario cart is a great game for all ages! My boys love competing with each other in Super Smash Bros, building and creating with Minecraft and teaming up with their uncles for Luigi’s Haunted Mansion. An extra set of controllers is a MUST too so they can play with their friends and siblings! Now that my oldest is a teen we have a new “teen” console but for  my younger boys I highly recommend the switch. It has soooo many great games for them, easy to use, and super fun. I don’t think there is a better console out there for this age group! 

Books!

Okay, okay, okay, books are not their favorite gift but my boys do like the Captain Underpants and Dog Man sets. At this age 15-20 min a night of reading homework is pretty standard. They might as well have something to laugh at and enjoy when they snuggle up to you at night! Although my 7 yr old can’t quite read Harry Potter yet, 7/8 ish is the age I have introduced my kiddos to it, and reading these large, beautifully Illustrated Editions together is super fun and I love the way they look on my bookshelf!
